Our Health Program Centers Outreach: Our Outreach Coordinators work with various community organizations and individuals, such as local churches, schools and businesses to assist community members to access all the programs and services SBNC has to offer. With Our Person-to-Person "Promotores" Program, the HPC Outreach Coordinator invites small groups of primarily Hispanic women (10-12 persons) to attend evening talks on SBNC's low-cost health services. Presentations focus on breast health, well-child exams, children's health insurance, smoking cessation, women's health, HIV/AIDS, diabetes management and nutrition education.
HIV SERVICES: HIV TESTING
Who is Eligible?
The tests are free, anonymous and available to persons 13 years of age and older.
What is Offered?
- All three Clinics offer anonymous HIV Antibody Testing at various hours (see below) without an appointment. It includes a risk assessment counseling before the test specimen is taken. It takes one week to get the results back. There is a disclosure session during which the counselor gives the results to the client and answers any questions. If referrals are needed or further testing is indicated it is done at the disclosure session. Follow-up counseling is available if needed.
- The Clinics also offer a confidential HIV test for $35.00. This is the same antibody test. This test does include the client’s name and a medical file is opened on this client. It is used primarily for persons traveling to a country where documentation is needed to enter the country. Also, persons entering the Peace Corps often need it before they are permitted into service. Must include patient’s name.
- The Clinics also offer a 48-hour test. This test is a more rapid turnaround time for results. The cost is $25.00. We down play the use of this test but will not turn people away who want it. Must include patient’s name.
